Marienmünster is situated in the North of the district "Kreis Höxter" - the recreation area between the Weser in the East, the Köterberg in the North, the Eggegebirge and the Teutoburger Wald in the in the Southwest and West.
The commercial, cultural and pastoral actions of the monks of the former Benedictine monastery, the Abbey Marienmünster, has shaped the localities in the past centuries.
